We are happy to include a workshop or workshop series as part of your Ruralesque performance.
Our team is made up of experienced arts educators and we are happy to work with you to design a community or professional workshop for your location. We have experience working with all ages and experience levels including special populations like dance students, family groups, older adults/seniors, and mixed-ability classes.
We offer a signature workshop in Creating Your Own Ruralseque Choreography!
But we can also offer classes in various contemporary and somatic dance techniques,
burlesque performance, ballet or jazz dance for all bodies, and choreographic process.
Calling all Knitters and Crafters!
Many of our Ruralesque set decorations and props were handmade by local knitters, crocheters, and traditional crafts-people and we are always accepting new submissions and developing craft-exchange programs in advance of our performances! We even have a special knitting project that you can share with your community in advance to create the props we need for our show - the Mummers’ Mitten Pastie. A specially designed pastie pattern developed by Amy Bowering is available here and we are happy to connect or visit with knitting groups or sewing circles to inspire them to create their own “hats for your nipples”!
Slow Tours and Artist-in-Residence Programs
Because we value community-engaged and relationship-based practices, please let us know if you are interested in becoming a ‘slow tour’ destination or hosting our group in residence alongside a performance. In this setting we can stay in your area for several days to engage in longer form workshops or creative outreach activities, participate in community or festival events, adapt our performance to local audiences, and design a unique schedule of activities that helps us learn more about your community and offer more of ourselves.
